Market share of the tools behind the top 216,840 websites we could analyze this month, split by Majestic rank tier.
Key findings
- WordPress is the most common of the CMSs on 25.4% of analyzed sites, but only 16.7% of the top 10k; Drupal follows at 3.4%.
- Google Analytics is the most common of the analytics tools on 22.8% of analyzed sites, but only 16.8% of the top 10k; Facebook Pixel follows at 4.8%.
- 20% of top-10k sites show a detectable cookie-consent tool, against 11% of all analyzed sites; OneTrust leads with 3.6%.
- WooCommerce is the most common of the ecommerce platforms on 2.0% of analyzed sites, but only 0.7% of the top 10k; Shopify follows at 1.7%.
- Microsoft 365 shows up in the DNS of 29.5% of domains (mail routing or a verified account), Google Workspace in 17.4%; in the top 10k it's 50.7% vs 26.9%.
- Cloudflare is the most common of the CDNs on 57.9% of analyzed sites, but only 41.3% of the top 10k; Amazon CloudFront follows at 5.1%.

Methodology and limitations
- Sample. The top 300,000 domains of the Majestic Million (CC BY 3.0), crawled in September 2026. 216,840 returned a usable homepage; errors, HTTP 4xx/5xx, bot challenges, parked and suspended pages were dropped. Percentages are of analyzed sites, not of the whole web or of all 300k.
- Rank tiers. “Top 10k” and “Top 100k” use the Majestic global rank of the domain we ended up on after redirects. Majestic ranks by referring subnets (links), not traffic. We analyzed 7,148 of the top 10,000 and 63,647 of the top 100,000: the largest sites block automated requests more often, so the top tier is the least complete.
- Homepage only, no browser. We fetch one page per domain over HTTP without running JavaScript. Tools injected later by a tag manager, loaded only after cookie consent, or used only on other pages (checkout, blog, app) are undercounted, so every share here is a lower bound.
- Detection. Fingerprints from the open-source webappanalyzer dataset (Wappalyzer format) matched against HTML, scripts, headers, cookies and meta tags, with a confidence of at least 50%. Company tools like business email come from public DNS records (MX, TXT, SPF). Detection can miss self-hosted or renamed assets and occasionally misfires.
- Categories. Sections follow the detector's categories. A few tools the dataset files under an unrelated category are left out of that section, as noted under each table. A site can use several tools in one section, so shares can add up to more than 100%.
- Switches (from the second issue on) only compare domains analyzed successfully in both months with the same homepage, skip pages whose detected stack collapsed (a sign of a degraded or blocked page), and ignore any technology whose fingerprint changed between the two crawls. A “switch” is one tool removed and a competitor in the same category added on the same site within the month.
